Web hosting is different from a web server host. This video will explain the key differences between the two.
A server is a computer that provides a service to other machines. It can host websites, emails, and a lot of data. They connect to multiple machines through networks. They may be dedicated to a specific service or run multiple services on one server.
Web servers are a subcategory of servers. They serve web pages to client computers. The web server has an IP address and domain name. For example, Youtube.com has its own server that provides videos and more to your computer.
A web host is a company that provides you with a web server. They maintain the physical server for you and you can host a website on it. Some examples of this are GoDaddy, SquareSpace, and WordPress.
There are shared servers and dedicated servers. Shared servers are where you share the functions of a singular server with multiple other tenets. Dedicated servers are more expensive because they give you the full functionality of the server for yourself. Think of shared servers as apartment complexes and dedicated servers as houses.
